“Let’s dance! Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.”
--David Bowie There is something truly transporting about giving myself over to the rhythm of some favored musical pulse. It seems to be even better when the sound is loud enough to fill the room, for then, the music possesses the power to crowd out the worries that have threatened to claim my tender thoughts.

Move! Groove! Dance to protect your thoughts! For as they say, “thoughts become things”, and we are certainly co-creating our experience to a large degree, aren’t we?

When I was a little girl, I can remember twirling and dancing until I was overcome with dizziness and uncontrollable laughter. As I grew older, I noticed that when I moved my body in a certain way, the resulting joy eventually gave way to profound feelings of hope and utter invincibility.

“There’s no place like home!”
Now, when I dance to that particular edge, divine consciousness is powerfully present and I am at once liberated, lucid, and strong. For me, to move and sweat is to fortify my being. It is to remember my GodSelf. It is to recall the potent ribbon of spirit that is embedded deep within me. (This magic is largely bass inflicted). It happens when I listen with every cell, dip into the foundation of the experience and allow myself to be propelled forward by the sacred motion. When I give myself over to the dynamic, full-body prayer that is my practice, I feel alive, and I know with great certainty that I can do just about anything. Want some?

Hatha yoga (the physical aspect of yoga) is a unifying practice and it powerfully yokes the body, mind and spirit. To pair ecstatic movement with yoga asana (postures) and pranyayama (breath work) gives the practitioner a truly transformational experience of body, breath & consciousness.

For more information regarding group classes, please see the yoga & movement page. Somatic programs will soon begin, and information on those interventions can be found on the somatic psychology page.

Namaste,
